Nelson Mandela: His Life in the Struggle
A poster series from the Mayibuye Center in Cape Town, South Africa.

"Nelson Mandela: His Life in the Struggle" chronicles the life of the ANC leader and first democratically elected President of South Africa from his childhood in the Transkei and his early years as a law student at Fort Hare University College to his increasingly prominent role as one of the ANC leaders. The series provides a detailed and moving visual history of the events leading up to Mandela’s trial and imprisonment on Robben Island. But the political struggle continued even though many of the ANC leaders were exiled or imprisoned. In 1990, Mandela was released from prison after 27 years, and soon resumed his public role as a preeminent leader of 20th century politics.
