StoryCorps will be in Madison to help us celebrate Peace Corps and Africa: 50 Years!
StoryCorps, an independent nonprofit whose mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives. StoryCorps seeks to honor and celebrate lives through listening.
A number of our conference participants and others will have the opportunity to record a conversation about shared experiences with the Peace Corps. These recordings will offer future generations a history of life as it was lived in the service of others through the voices and stories of everyday people.
The recorded human voice has the power to engage, to enlighten, and to inspire. The stories we document with StoryCorps will provide a valuable archive of Wisconsin’s own voices to be shared with future generations, and also help trace Peace Corps histories spanning fifty years.
