Walking through a cemetery in Copenhagen in 2013 Dr. Ethelene Whitmire noticed a name that seemed out of place. Hear about her surprising discovery and the basis for her latest line of research on the African-American diaspora in Denmark during the Jazz Age, including what led them there and some of their experiences and achievements abroad.

Whitmire, professor at the Information School at UW-Madison, was granted a Fulbright for her work.  In addition to presenting her research findings, she will be available to answer questions about her process obtaining grants and fellowships, her research process in the United States and abroad, and what it was like to teach in a foreign country.
