Biography
Leila Tayeb is a Humanities Research Fellow for the Study of the Arab World at NYU Abu Dhabi. She earned her Ph.D. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University in 2018. Tayeb’s work uses performance ethnography and popular archives to explore the politics of cultural performance and the performativity of political life in and beyond Libya. Her writing has been published in Lateral (the journal of the Cultural Studies Association), the Arab Studies Journal, and the Journal of North African Studies, among others.
