Creativity and Constraint in Advocacy Media Production in Nairobi’s Slums

In Nairobi’s slums there are several organizations that train young residents in media production so that these youth can “tell their own stories.” This talk will discuss some of the challenges and opportunities these youth encounter when producing their films, documentaries, and news reports. In doing so, this talk will examine what it means to have a “story” and what factors restrict and enable the “telling” of that story.
