This talk discusses the conditions leading to the foundation of the program, its foundation (1961) and its first years until 1964.
Speaker’s Bio:
I arrived in Madison on November 26, 1960, as an Africanist historian an anthropologist with years of experience in an interdisciplinary institute, helped found the program, and am still here.
