Aleia McCord studies the relationships between energy and health in east Africa using mixed methods from the social and natural sciences. Her most recent work examined the economic, social, and environmental impacts of micro-scale anaerobic digesters in Uganda.

Emilie is the Senior Librarian for African, Global, and Francophone Studies, as well as the Head of International and Area Studies for libraries. She is the chair of the Africana Librarian’s Council Title 6 group and the curator of an extensive collection of African commemorative fabrics, which includes more than 500 physical hundred pieces.

Olayinka defended her dissertation in Educational Policy Studies with a concentration on comparative and international education and a minor in Curriculum and Instruction. Her research looks at the implications of equivocal language policies on reading pedagogy in multilingual classrooms in Nigeria.
