Every year, the African Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison provides assistance to UW-Madison faculty affiliates who wish to welcome visiting scholars with a primary focus on Africa in their research and/or work. Faculty members interested in hosting visiting scholars can reach out to the associate director to explore the available support options. Please be aware that the center does not have dedicated funds for covering visiting scholar salaries or travel expenses. Typically, the support offered encompasses office space and administrative assistance.
Visiting scholars are actively involved in various aspects of the center’s activities, which include participating in events, conducting scholarly research and academic work, delivering formal lectures as part of the Africa at Noon speaker series, and building connections with faculty, staff, and student affiliates associated with the African Studies Program at UW-Madison.
