UW-Madison Libraries and Emilie Songolo, senior academic librarian and bibliographer for the African Studies Program, are excited to highlight books on African soccer in anticipation of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The internationally celebrated soccer tournament begins Thursday, June 12 and features five participating African countries–Algeria, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria.
Soccer is very popular throughout Africa and many books have been written about its cultural and social significance. To browse available books in the UW-Madison Libraries system on soccer in Africa, please visit Emilie Songolo’s Pinterest board “African Soccer in Books.”
