The African Studies Program is thrilled to welcome Lauren Parnell Marino as an administrative program assistant and academic advisor.
In her position, she advises on the Undergraduate Certificate in African Studies. She welcomes conversations about career goals, fellowships, internships, graduate school, and living abroad after graduation.
Lauren is a doctoral student in Development Studies program at UW-Madison. Her research focuses on women’s participation in the labor force and global commodity chains in East Africa, empowerment, and social capital. She comes to Madison from Washington, DC and has experience in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
