The 2018 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) competition is open. The deadline for submission of a complete application, including all supporting documents, is 10:00am on Thursday, June 28, 2018.
The campus deadline is the final deadline for student applicants. The national deadline is the institutional deadline. See the IRIS website for information on the application process & campus documents.
The Fulbright-Hays DDRA funds doctoral candidates (US citizens, nationals, or permanent residents) to conduct research in other countries, in modern foreign languages and area studies for periods of 6 to 12 months. The grant does not fund research whose focus is on Western European countries.
For 2018 there are two areas identified as competitive preference priorities: projects that use any of 78 priority languages selected from a list of Less Commonly Taught Languages; and projects conducted in the fields of economics, engineering, international development, mathematics, political science, public health, science, comparative or international education, or technology.
