2021-2022 VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN AFRICAN HISTORY

The Macalester College Department of History invites applications for a historian with a specialization in African history for a one-year appointment during the academic year 2021-22.

They are seeking a scholar who can teach classes that introduce students to the broad geographic range and deep chronological history of Africa. Responsibilities include teaching a total of five undergraduate courses over the course of the year. These include two survey classes: “African History to 1800” and “African History since 1800,” and three other African history classes from our catalog such as “African Life Histories” or “Women in African History.”

The position will be filled at the level of Visiting Assistant Professor. A completed dissertation is expected at the start of the appointment. ABDs may apply.
