African Studies Faculty Travel Awards

Purpose

As a Title VI National Resource Center for Africa, the African Studies Program is sometimes able to support UW-Madison faculty research projects. This year we have funds available for faculty awards.

Eligibility

Any UW-Madison faculty member proposing research or conference travel related to the study of Africa is eligible to apply. Faculty need not be current affiliates of the African Studies Program. Recipients of the awards should present research results in an Africa at Noon seminar. Applicants who are not already African Studies faculty affiliates are strongly encouraged to become affiliates.

Award Details

Awards will be a maximum of $5000. The awards are intended for travel between April-December 2020. Funds may only be used for faculty travel expenses and cannot be used to support graduate student travel or other expenses.

Application Deadline

Applications are currently closed.

Application Procedure

Please submit a 1-2 page description of your proposed travel.  The narrative should describe the significance of your research and explain why the travel is necessary. The request should explain when and where the travel will occur and how the support — a maximum of $5,000 — would be used. Please list any other funding that will support this project.
