A one-day workshop for middle and high school coaches and educators from across the curriculum: Social Science, History, Math, Physical Education, Biology and Athletic Coaches and any other area of interest. This workshop will use the 2010 World Cup in South Africa as an example of how teachers and coaches can turn international sporting events into teaching moments to enhance and engage all students in their overall educational success. Educators from different backgrounds, disciplines, life experiences and interests will learn how to take advantage of students’ interests and enthusiasm. This presents opportunities for building on their own disciplinary curriculum as well as exploring non-disciplinary curricula goals. Teaching through sport can be fun and engaging for teachers and their students!
Cost: $15 (includes presentations, lunch and teaching materials)

UW Graduate Credit
Teachers have the option of taking this workshop as a one-credit UW course.
To earn UW credit you must complete and submit the special student web application before June 25 for the Summer 2010 term.
