Description
Assistant Professor Mary Hark, along with internationally acclaimed artists Dr. Atta Kwami (painter, printmaker and art historian, Ghana) and Pamela Clarkson (painter and printmaker, Ghana, UK), will discuss their fine press book collaboration, as well as introducing Kwami and Clarkson’s personal art work. Dr. Kwami’s book Kumasi Realism, 1951-2007: An African Modernism, Hurst Publishers Ltd. will be published in December 2011. Kwami and Clarkson’s work will be exhibited in Madison at the Common Wealth Gallery November 12 – December 5. Their collaborative fine press book is on display at the Kohler Art Library November 1 – December 31, 2011. Lyn Korenic, director of the Kohler Art Library and curator of UW-Madison’s wonderful artist book collection will begin the discussion with a brief introduction to fine press and artist books.
