Mandela Mentor Program

The 2020 Mandela Mentor Program invites former Fellows to return to Madison to serve as mentors for the 2020 Public Management Leadership Institute at UW-Madison, contingent on UW Madison receiving funding for a 2020 Leadership Institute.

Any former Mandela Washington Fellows who attended the Leadership Institute on Public Management at UW-Madison between 2016-2019 are eligible to apply.

Alumni mentors will receive one international round-trip flight to and from Madison, a $700 honorarium, and accommodation for the duration of their stay in Madison. The mentor will have a private room in the same residence as the 2020 Fellows. The mentor must arrive on or after June 25th and must depart no later than July 26th. This program is contingent on UW Madison receiving funding for 2020’s Institute.

In consultation with institute staff, the mentor will facilitate two discussions with the Fellows:

1) Developing effective long-term collaborative relationships

2) Returning home after the Fellowship

The Fellow is invited to attend activities with the 2020 cohort; however, they should plan to spend the majority of their time networking with colleagues in Wisconsin and advancing their own professional interests.

Sun, Nov 24 11:59pm. Decisions will be returned by Jan 1st, 2020.

The applicant is responsible for securing an appropriate visa no later than April 15th, 2020. Flights must be booked no later than May 15th, 2020. Failure to comply with these deadlines will result in the revocation of the award.
