Joya is an undergraduate student majoring in Community & Environmental Sociology and Health Promotion & Health Equity with certificates in African Cultural Studies and Environmental Studies. Joya studies the ways in which communities within the African continent and its diaspora in interact with, connect with, and are impacted by the natural world. Her most recent work includes studying ethnobotany in Ghana and examining the ethnobotanical trends that have been continued and sustained in the West African diaspora. Joya is in charge of managing emails and media platforms, assisting in the provision logistical and material resources, and assisting in outreach and communication for the African Studies Department.
