The African Studies Program is thrilled to launch its 2015-16 BOOK BASKETS outreach program. The project includes a selection of highly acclaimed Africa-related books available for loan to educators. The selection is primarily fiction, but also include autobiographical works, folktales, graphic novels, picture books, young-adult novels, and novels for older students.
A number of book baskets have been prepared thematically, though educators are encouraged to customize their own baskets depending on students’ needs. Current themes include: health and healing, food, the environment, economics, everyday life, migration, genocide, war, and apartheid.
Visit the BOOK BASKETS page to browse titles and themes. Please contact the African Studies Program Outreach Coordinator at outreach@africa.webhosting.cals.wisc.edu for help with customizing book baskets or with additional questions.
