The Language Institute enthusiastically invites UW-Madison faculty, staff, and graduate students to offer 40-minute, interactive presentations geared towards a high school audience at Languages of the World Day (formerly World Languages Day) on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 in Union South.
The goal of Languages of the World Day is to inspire interest in diverse languages and cultures, past and present, from around the world. A presentation at this important outreach event is an opportunity to introduce Wisconsin high school students and teachers to the language(s) you teach or research, and to encourage further exploration and study. Languages of the World Day sessions can be demonstration language lessons, presentations on a cultural topic, student or other panels (e.g., focused on study abroad or careers), or introductions to performing arts. Successful Languages of the World Day sessions are fun, interactive, and engaging for a high school student audience. To provide guidance to presenters on proposal submissions, including examples of past successful presentations, we have put together a handout for you to review prior to submitting your proposal.
Presenters can choose from one of four time slots on Wednesday, March 1, 2023:
- 9:20-10:00am
- 10:10-10:50am
- 11:40am-12:20pm
- 12:30-1:10pm
Click here to submit a proposal for a presentation at Languages of the World Day. You will be asked for a presentation title, description, and presenter information, as well as your availability on Wednesday, March 1, and your space and equipment needs.
