Speaker’s Bio

Tom Eggert, founder and current President of WorldWise Microfinance, was trained as an attorney prior to teaching at UW Madison.  He taught the first class on sustainability at UW Madison in 1994, and was instrumental in the development of a graduate certificate in sustainability and in the development of the Office of Sustainability. Prior to law school, Tom was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines, and following his 2 year assignment, traveled throughout SE Asia. He worked with Peace Corps offices in Thailand and Nepal, training incoming volunteers. Tom retired in 2019, just before the pandemic, which in retrospect was the perfect time to retire. He took on a greater role with Wisconsin Microfinance and oversaw the transition to the new name “WorldWise Microfinance”. Under Tom’s leadership, WorldWise Microfinance expanded into Ghana and Kenya in 2025 and Uganda in early 2025.

The event is free and open to the public.
