CONTRIBUTE TO HIGHER EDUCATION IN ETHIOPIA

The Institute of International Education (IIE) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Ambassador’s Distinguished Scholars Program in Ethiopia. Sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, the program seeks American citizens with terminal degrees to join the faculty of one of four Ethiopian universities to engage in primary research with doctoral students, work to publish results, teach, design curriculum, mentor students, and collaborate with faculty at their host institution. American academics have a tremendous opportunity to contribute to the development of the rapidly-expanding higher education system of Ethiopia.

The current round of applications seeks scholars to work in Ethiopia from August 2019 until June 2020, with placements possible in a variety of disciplines at one of four Ethiopian institutions: Bahir Dar University, the University of Gondar, Haramaya University, and Mekelle University. Program benefits include, but are not limited to, a monthly stipend, housing allowance, medical insurance and airfare for the scholar and a dependent. IIE’s office in Ethiopia will provide local support.

IIE is offering a free webinar on February 12 at 12:00pm EST to describe the program in more detail and to give potential applicants the opportunity to ask questions. Click here to register.

The application deadline is February 28, 2019.
