Job Opening: TA for African 277 in Spring 2019

The UW-Madison African Studies Program is seeking TA’s for African 277, an introductory survey course designed to be a multi­disciplinary introduction to the cultures and history of Africa. The course is cross-listed with African Cultural Studies, Afro-American Studies, Anthropology, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology.

The course will be taught in the Spring of 2019 by Professor Matt Brown from the Department of African Cultural Studies. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00AM – 12:15PM. Applicants must be UW-Madison graduate students in good standing, making normal progress toward a degree, and specializing in the study of Africa in any department. Life and research experience in Africa is preferred. Applicants must be free to attend all lectures and lead four discussion sections weekly. All discussion sections will meet on Thursday (afternoon only) and Friday.

Appointment level: 50%, includes tuition remission

Duties: Attend all lectures, lead four discussion sections per week, keep grade book, assist with all grading, carry out other duties as expected of teaching assistants.
