Gent University is accepting applications for a PhD studentship and a post-doctoral position in their History Department. Both will be affiliated with the History Department and be part of a research group on the aftermath of slavery in East Africa, funded by the European Research Council. There is no obligation to teach, but contributions to teaching can be arranged for both positions.

PhD Studentship
Applications are invited for a four-year, fully funded PhD studentship with Professor Felicitas Becker on the aftermath of slavery in twentieth-century Buganda. Monthly pay amounts to 2000 EUR tax-free. The default start date is October 1, 2019, but there is some flexibility.
Post-Doctoral Position
Applications are invited for a three-year post-doctoral position at Gent University, researching the aftermath of slavery in Buganda. Monthly pay starts at 2000 EUR minimum and may increase depending on seniority. The default start date is October 1, 2019, but there is some flexibility.
