2019 ASA WOMEN’S CAUCUS LUNCHEON

Tickets for the annual African Studies Association Annual Meeting Women’s Caucus Luncheon and Lecture are now available! You can purchase them here — the deadline for purchase is November 1, and the date and time of the luncheon is Saturday, November 23 at 12:45pm.

Tickets for the lecture will be $10. Tickets for the lunch and lecture will be $35. The lunch will consist of flatbread pizza slices (meat or veggie option), with a self-serve lemonade and water station.

Patricia McFadden will be this year’s Women’s Caucus Luncheon speaker. Ms. McFadden she is an activist and scholar who worked in the anti-apartheid movement for more than 20 years. She has worked in the African and global women’s movements, was an editor of the Southern African Feminist Review and African Feminist Perspectives. In the US, she has taught at Cornell University, Spelman College, Syracuse University, and Smith College. She also works as a feminist consultant, supporting women in creating institutionally sustainable feminist spaces within southern Africa and is a member of the advisory board of the African Feminist Initiative at Pennsylvania State University.
